Ultrasound Forum: Fasting Protocols for Ultra ... Fasting Protocols for Ultrasound - Emergency Room Does anybody out there have a text or journal reference that explicitly mentions that no delays should be made to perform an ultrasound in an emergency, when the patient's consumption history is not known, or when the patient is known to have recently consumed food. Common sense would dictate that a delay should not be made, of course, but do the medical text or journal articles back this up? Many thanks! MF I never thought about it in that sense because not holding of an ultrasound designated for emergency indications may lead to criminal prosecution in Russia.
